Airplane Travel deals?

I currently live in Boston, Massachusetts but coming August i'm going to be attending a boarding school in Orlando, Florida. Homeleave is usually every month and i was planning to fly up to Boston when that time arrives. My question is, are there any travel deals that will help cut the cost of the flight fees? I'm planning on traveling back home every month so there MUST be something or other, right? Thanks(:

Delta and JetBlue both fly this route non-stop for about $200 with a two week advance ticket purchase. The school will give you a calender of events, so when you get it, make your reservations and purchase your tickets for the whole year. That will keep your costs down. NB-you will not be able to change your mind about flying or change dates. I suggest you discuss this with your parents. Regards, Dan

I was born just outside of Boston and have lived in Massachusetts ever since - but apparently, I may not belong here because I got only (I think) 19 of the 73. Mine seem to involve foods, kid stuff, the weather, coffee, and a couple of other categories. I think the other stuff is only for one kind of people that happen to live in Massachusetts. (Not to pick apart a joke thing or want to seem to take it too seriously) It's just that it's not all of Massachusetts people who like what's shown on the list, and it always kind of bugs me that the rest of us are not often represented very well. :) Stuff that does ring a bell for me: Canobie Lake, social security number, "regular" coffee, pronounce Worcester etc., Dunkin Donuts, Yaz, purple line, First Night, Frappe, Avruche, Bulger, and (correction) Plimouth Plantation (although I haven't gone there). Freedom Trail - field trip in fourth grade. Major Mudd, candlepins, Government center, Rex Trailer, mountains/oceans, 128 AND 495 dividing weather line (but so is the Stoneham/Melrose/Wakefield/Woburn area from the "far North" area, weather-wise) - oh, and the six lanes thing.

What colleges should I look into?

This September I will be a junior in high school and I still don't know what college I want to go to. I love performing. I'm a dancer of 14 years and I don't intend to stop anytime soon. Although I don't act, I am taking a chorus class this year. I love being on stage. In school, I get decent grades; A's and B's. My favorite class is history. I live in Boston, Massachusetts. In November, I will be taking a tour of Juilliard in New York. Can anyone suggest a few good colleges I could look into around my area considering the things I have mentioned? Thank you!

You can try NYU. It's great school, and one of my friends who's a phenominal actor and singer just got accepted there. In fact, any school in NYC will be great. You'll have opportunities to intern or find jobs that involve acting and performing, and you won't need to search very far for a job after you graduate (Broadway?).
2 :
Julliard is, as I'm sure you know, the best music school in the country. You should also definitely look into NYU (Tisch), which is very prestigious. Other schools with good dance/acting programs: North Carolina School of the Arts, Boston Conservatory, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia

Should I study Mandarin Chinese or Japanese

I have been stuck on this question for a while now. I know that there are various difficulties and benefits with each language, but what I really want is to be as fluent as possible by the time I've completed five semesters of study in this language. I want to know in which language am I more likely to have the most overall proficiency, and will best be able to use/converse. Some say Chinese takes longer (the nearly complete lack of English cognates and a phonetic writing system), and others say Japanese takes longer (all of their synonyms and grammatical differences as well as how the language is used culturally). Some information that may help: -I am an Anthropology major -The Chinese text used at my school is the "Integrated Chinese" series -The Japanese text used is the "Genki" series from the Japan Times -I go to the University of Massachusetts in Boston, MA (in case anyone has taken either language at this school) Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all the great responses so far! I would really like some answers on one of the main points of my question, and that is, which language takes less time to gain strong speaking proficiency? Also, has anyone worked with the aforementioned texts for the languages, as they will be my basis for learning and I would like to hear from people who've used them in an academic setting. Thanks again!

they're both great languages. but seeing as china is becoming more important in the world today, chinese may become an important language to learn
4 :
i think you should study japenese
5 :
Yes
6 :
Mandarin Chinese is the langiage of the future....close to 1 billion people speak it now, Japan has a declining population and economy and a lot few people speak the language.
7 :
Study what is most beneficial to you.Only you can decide that.
8 :
Japanese would be more praticable.
9 :
I've heard Japanese is easier... I know a 16 year old who went to Japan for only a few months and is fluent. My aunt and uncle have been trying to learn Mandarin for more than 2 years and they still struggle with it.
10 :
Japanese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11 :
depends on what you need it for. Japanese would serve you well if you need to have language for a business pursuit, but since you are an anthropology major. I guess it justs depends then on where your interests lie. My brother took Japanese for a degree in Economics/minor Japanese and did very well. He really enjoyed it too.
12 :
Wow, same question I've had. I decided on Mandarin Chinese, because each has all the points you raised, but in general, it seems that Chinese will become a more dominate language with their economic boom and whatnot, so I figure I'd be better off with taking Chinese. I say go with Chinese, unless you simply have a really strong passion for Japanese.
13 :
it depends on which one you will be using in the future.
14 :
I study Mandarin chinese. I think it will be the most useful, seeing that the Chinese will/already have/in the process of taking over the world economicly. I goto China every year, which would make sence to study chinese. Chinese Is complex. But I find it easier to learn than I thought it would be. Also theres not alot of specifics in chinese like describing what gender someone is. If you want something easy, Japaneese is probably easier to pronounce. I've take a little of that too. But I think Chinese would be the most useful. The hardest part of Chinese is just the memorization of the charecters. If your good at pronouncing things, its an easy language. I hope that helped. ~Nicole
15 :
hmm to be honest its really up to u, there's good and bad to both languages. And both will probably take some time to master. However for me personally I like Japanese better, I just love the culture and everything about them. And the language is so cool sounding. Um yea hope this helped, good luck! Omg I live in Boston too! Way cool man, I just love this area^-^ have a nice day
16 :
Mandarin! it is the language of the future!
17 :
I think you should study Chinese. True, it is hard, and this is coming from a chinese myself. At first, you HAVE to learn the phonetic writing system. Its the key to learning chinese. Knowing that can make your leanring a lot easier. The advantage of learning chinese: Well to start off, China is one of, if not THE fastest growing nations in the world. In the near future, Chinese (or mandarin) will be as useful as English in the past. Buisiness will grow on it, its much easier to communicate with people. Considering how many chinese and chinese speaker in the world, compared to Japanese, its fairly evident to say that you ahve more of a chance to meet a chinese-speaker. The main problem in Chinese language is the speaking (and hearing), a word can have as many as a few hundred meanings. For example, Zhang can mean dirty, grow, obstacle, a family name, look etc. The way to differentiate is to look that its phonetics. For an american, its gonna be hard, your work will be cut out infront of you, but trust me, learning the language can help you in life later one, BIG TIME.
18 :
As you said, both of these languages have their difficulties and benefits. Both can be confusing because of the various similar sounds. Chinese revolves around the four main accents of a particular sound. Each accented word can mean a different thing. However, in Japanese, there are usually no accented words (except for prolonging a sound). Since there are a limited use of sounds in Japanese, many words have different meanings. For example, "kami" can mean paper, hair, and god. "Hana" can mean flower or nose. Japanese also uses kanji, words borrowed from the Chinese system. To read a newspaper, you need to know at least 2,000 kanji, all 46 of the Katakana (writing system for foreign words and names), and all 46 of the Hiragana characters (native Japanese writing system). In Chinese, knowing at least 1,000 words will be sufficient enough. My suggestion would be Chinese since it may be more useful for you in the future.
19 :
Ooooooh... well, I'm a Mandarin-speaker who desperately wants to be fluent in Japanese, but you're right; Japanese is quite difficult because of the cultural uses. However, I believe that Japanese is probably easier to pronounce and speak (maybe because of my Asian tongue), but the romanji is seriously more dead-on than say the pronunciation of Mandarin characters written in the English alphabet. All you need to know for Japanese is WHERE to stress the word. In Mandarin, there are 5 different sounds for each character, and altering the sound gives a different meaning. *shrugs* Maybe I'm partial to Japanese (even though I speak Mandarin) because I'm fascinated with Japan, it's manga, its culture, etc. In the end, it all depends on which you're more interested in. If you do NOT plan on traveling over to Japan and just plan on staying near MA or going to CA, then Mandarin might be better for you because there are more Chinese than there are Japanese in the US (or at least I believe so because I live in CA, and there are maybe 3 or 4 Japanese students and a whole lot of Chinese ones). I personally would rather learn Japanese, though, because it'd be pretty good for business. Of course, you can always just become fluent in Japanese and THEN study Mandarin for another five semesters (or vice versa), can't you? Who says you've got to limit your knowledge to just one foreign language?
20 :
Okay, so im probably not as old as some the the college people and beyond here but i know this. Since i speak Chinese and Japanese fluently i think u should learn Chinese. Although Chinese and japanese are alike the mandarin chinese language is growing and the japanese language is dimishing. So it is in my opinion that u should study Chinese but however this is your choice.
21 :
I'm speaking from a more biased point of view because of the simple fact that my b/f is Japanese/Puerto Rican and so in my house we speak Japanese, Spanish, and English... I'd have to say learn Japanese... simply because The Japanese and Chinese languages are not easy to learn that's for sure. But if you love anime then knowing Japanese would be a great thing for you. Plus, I think it's much smoother than Chinese. Moving from biased point and on to something that could be more helpful. Let's say this, why don't you take both classes *not for a full year or anything*... but just take them for one semester and see which one you like best. And whichever one you like best then take that language. *and if you can't do that* Then you can either buy the language CD for both languages *meaning buying two different how-to-speak cd's*, or buy the language CD for All Asian languages *buying one how-to-speak cd for all Asian languages* and then decide from that CD which one you wanna take. I may like something completely different then from what you like so I couldn't choose for you. HTH
22 :
mandarin because right now china is growing fast,so if you know chinese your chances of getting a job compared to one that knows jap. might be higher
23 :
You should study Japanese because japan is way more exiting than china. However in the news they keep saying Chinese will be the next spanish, as in the next biggest language besides english. Elementary Schools are now teaching mandarin, but i'll still say to study japanese, they have the anime, movies, electronics, etc...
24 :
As someone else already mentioned--I myself am also a native Chinese/Mandarin speaker who is interested in Japanese language and culture. If you want to pick the more practical, useful one, I would say Chinese because like others have already said--China's economy and world power is growing very fast. Both languages are equally hard, but I will say that if you learn Chinese first--Japanese will be a LOT easier for you to learn later on because Japanese borrowed lots of characters from the Chinese language and the sounds will be easier to pronounce. For now, I would recommend Chinese, but the choice is ultimately up to you! Good luck.
25 :
Learn Chinese, it's much more easier than Japanese, and the number of speaker is 10 times more important... http://www.chinese-tools.com/learn/chinese

Not likely. No money. It's a liberal state.

my previous posting was wrong -- No he will not (Republican Party news released 9/11/09): Card said last night in a statement, released by the state Republican Party, that he was heartened by the support and encouragement he has received over the last several days, 'But ultimately, the decision is what I believe to be in the best interest of my family. Now is not the right time for me to enter a political race.' In the statement, Card, 62, endorsed state Senator Scott Brown, a Republican from Wrentham who has said he would only run if Card did not.

I think you can go to umass (maybe Boston or Lowell and then transfer if that's a no) Tufts is good but you probably wouldn't get I but u never know I'd say a 50 50 chance for Boston u and northeastern
3 :
Your ACT is low and a sub 3.5 GPA makes you a less desirable candidate. Sports would be nice if you have any. Fortunately, private schools don't have a "minimum GPA blah blah" so you can still apply but I wouldn't hold my breath with some of them..
4 :
Probably some selective colleges, doubt you will make it to the top tiers, also I suggest signing up for the SAT and taking that once and the AP courses look GREAT on your application. everyone answer my question please! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgvYz5xB0LQrqm4Ehsa256bsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090816192735AA1O5HL

Airflight travel deals?

I currently live in Boston, Massachusetts but coming August i'm going to be attending a boarding school in Orlando, Florida. Exactly when you travel and for how long matter a lot, but it appears the best advance-purchase airfare between Orlando & Boston is usually about $250 on all of the airlines. All you can do is plan your trips and buy the tickets in time to get whatever discounts are available (usually at least 2 weeks in advance). Then try very hard to use the same airline for all the trips so you maximize the frequent flier miles you get for traveling. FF miles eventually = a free ticket, which you can view as a buy 10/get 1 free discount. However, it only works if you earn enough miles (usually 25,000) on one airline for the free ticket. Note that AirTran, Delta, JetBlue and maybe American Airlines have non-stop flights between Orlando & Boston. Good luck!

University of Massachusetts or Northeastern University?

Here are the two universities that offer me admission and I couldn't decide where to go 1. Northeastern University, Boston Tuition: about 51,000 Co- op Program 2. And is the Co-op program really helpful for every students? How about University of Massachusetts? Is it a good school over all? Please advice me because I really need it Thank you sorry, for UMass I mean UMass-Amherst And UMass Accept me as an Landscape Architecture student, how was that subject? Is that related to "Architecture" ?

I went to school on a coop program, so I admit to being prejudiced. That disclaimer aside - I would choose the Northeastern coop program. Here's why. Coop programs don't make a lot of sense in fields that are fundamentally abstract - english, history, philosophy, etc. But in fields that are application oriented, a coop program complements the classroom by giving you practical experience (educators like to call that a 'practicum' because it sounds more sophisticated). Actually having a coop job in an area related to architecture (as a drafter with an architect, in construction, etc) you will get a far better picture of what it is like to be an architect. As a result, you will either confirm that your desire to study architecture was appropriate and that's the career you are seeking, or else you will conclude that architecture is not for you and you will become a business major. And having had a real job in a related field, you will be far more valuable to your first employer than if you simply sit in a classroom for four years - and that means that the task of finding a job will be much easier. The University of Massachusetts is a great school. I presume you are considering Amhearst. The difference between Boston and Amhearst is another consideration - Amhearst is a nice little town, with emphasis on little. Boston is Boston - far more exciting place to be as a student.

Northeastern the Co-op program is worth the extra money.

What college do you think is better for pre-pharmacy?

I'm a senior in high school and I got accepted to Univeristy of Connecticut and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Everytime I ask people this question they're like...if you like the country then go to UConn but if you love the city then go to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy (It's in Boston). But to be honest with you...I can adjust to any area. My main concern is which college has a better pre-pharmacy program? Please help me!!

You should talk to a professor and/or advisor at each Pharmacy department at the schools. If you do go for a school tour, ask a lot of questions and talk to current students to see how they like the college. Compare your findings and see which you like most. Good luck and congratulations on getting accepted

Which of these colleges is best for Astrophysics/ Physics and Astronomy?

I just need a little more advice on which college I should attend. Right now my top three picks (not in an order) are: Boston University University of Arizona Case Western I also got accepted to: University of Wisconsin Madison University of Massachusetts Amherst I wanted to major in Astrophysics/ Physics and Astronomy or something similar. I also plan to attend graduate school. Which college has the best Astrophysics/ Physics and Astronomy program? And any other suggestions or comments? Thanks!

If you do plan to go to grad school in astronomy or astrophysics, major in physics in college. Math, astronomy, and computer science are also useful, but physics is essential. U of A, Wisconsin, and Amherst have the best programs of the schools you mentioned - go to one of those. Personally, I'd go with U of A, they have a top-10 astro grad program, so it shouldn't be too hard to get into another top school for grad school from there. Spend your summers doing research projects either at U of A or through REU programs

I would say 50% chance. Your ACT is kind of low and the unweighted GPA is low. If you get a 28 on the ACT, then I'd bump your chances up to 80% chance of getting in

College of William and Mary versus Boston College?

I recently received all of my college letters, and have narrowed down my choices down to College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. I live about 1/2 hour south of Boston in a suburb. I go to a moderate sized public school and am graduating 3rd in my class. I am interested in studying history (especially American) and political science. My top school was Georgetown, but I was waitlisted. I am remaining on the waitlist, and will probably attend if accepted. I want some opinions from people who have had experiences with either of the schools. I love them both and am visiting the accepted students days, so I am having a hard time deciding. Just as a side note, my best friend will definitely be attending BC. Any input would be appreciated. (And I know that the choice is mine, and I plan on making that choice, but I would just enjoy some advice.)

W&M. First, it's a fantastic school. Second, getting out of boston for a few years will be a good experience. If you're that interested in American history, chances are that you've exhausted the historical sites in Boston and what better place to experience the founding of the US than at the school where Washington and Jefferson both went? It's just over 2 hrs from DC so you can go there whenever you want

How to survive in the US as a student?

okay, this has to be my 3rd or 4th question about studying in the United States. To be precise, the only sure schools we can afford are 2-year community colleges. That leaves Universities out. Being an Alien student and having no relatives in a certain city or state, how do I survive? I mean, where will i get and how much should be my pocket money? That and many aspects in studying in US as an alien. I need info. Oh yeah... I want Boston, Massachusetts.

Boston is very expensive, I'm afraid. You'll need $800-$1200 a month for rent/utilities ($650-$800 if you're really lucky and find a place to share with some people), $30-$60 a month for public transportation, $100-$200 a month for food, and then I'd recommend $100-$200 a month for incidentals (entertainment, etc.). It's the rent that's the worst -- if you're thrifty, you can save on the rest. To find a place, use Craigslist, but be careful. It's hard coming from another country, but don't let yourself be swindled. If your college has a program to match stu

ARE CERTAIN TYPES of body fat healthy for you? what would think of a research that says...?

...having a big.... derriere is healthy for you?... this is coming from a Reuters report from a clinical study performed by a Dr. Robert Khan... who says subcutaneous helps improve sensitivity to the hormone insulin...which regulates blood sugar... the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts study shows that fat which collects around the hips... known as subcutaneous fat which collects under the skin appears to fight type 2 diabetes... what the researchers did was to inject subcutaneous fat into the bellies of mice ... they lost weight and their fat decreased in size and their blood sugar levels improved... the doctor also found that this had a beneficial effect when placed inside the abdomen... he performed the study because he wanted to know why certain types of fat located in different parts of the body caused different types of risks and diseases... hmmm.. interesting... do you wonder if people will be running out to the nearest doctor to have extra fat injected into their rears? WYT?

Fat consumption helps level out lipids. You just need to eat more fat. Eat high saturated fat, moderate protein. You see, saturated fat gets a bad rap because it is solid at room temperature. They say that it will clog your arteries. They don’t tell you that you need it for hormone regulation and to retain Vitamins A,D,E, and K. Also, they say that it will raise cholesterol. Your body makes cholesterol, about 1g a day. If you eat cholesterol your body doesn't manufacture as much. You cannot eat as much as your body makes per day. Now, when you live off of grains (like tofu, oatmeal, any soy, potatoes, corn, ect.) your body cannot produce the insulin to process it all, so your liver makes the excess into VLDL to protect your kidney's from the excess sugar spilling over into them. VLDL isn't bad, but as it is used it degrades and loses triglycerides become LDL (bad cholesterol). Consuming fat takes a load off of your body and can actually help lipid levels because if you are eating lots of fat you probably aren't eating lots of carbs. Eat natural things like butter, green vegetables, non starchy vegetables, starchy vegetables in small amounts, olive oil, nuts, beef, eggs, chicken, fish, whole diary cheese, whole diary milk, ect. Also, your high will grow faster and so will your nails.

Even if this research is accurate/true it still does not matter because the leading cause of death in the US is heart disease not cancer or diabetes. The magnitude of deaths resulting from heart disease is so great that it dwarfs all other diseases. Consider this, for more than 40 years, heart disease has been the leading cause of death for Americans AND the number has been increasing every year without a plateau in the statistics. This means more deaths from heart disease this year than last year, and more next year than this year. Just to give you a comparison. The US deaths from WWII was about 404,000 over 4 years which is about 101,000/year. US deaths from heart disease is over 250,000/year - more than double the rate of war casuality from WWII. Furthermore, we are seeing heart disease in younger people. It use to be that we see it in people in their late-60's or older. But we are beginning to see it in people as young as late-30's. Obesity is now pandemic in American society, so a shortage in body fat is not likely a concern. Next time you are out in public, just take a sampling of people you see out in the street and you will see that obese people are by far the majority.

OK, I guess this means that means I'm in trouble! You see, you just can't win in life sometimes, no matter what you do! I recently lost 40 pounds of weight I had been carrying around for 18 years. I am 53. I did it by eating properly and exercising over a period of less than five months. Now, no one told me during that time that it was good to have fat on me. In fact, from everything I had ever read, it was not a good thing that I had fat on me! So, now that I am at the weight I was at 20 and toned at the same time, you can imagine how thrilled I am by this achievement so late in life, yet another article sheds a new light! I had never had fat in the areas you're describing until I gained weight and even then there wasn't a large concentrated fat storage in any particular area, just an overall fat issue. I guess you could say, I carried my fat well, if there is such an achievement in life. I am always astounded when I read such articles and yes, I did hear what you are stating on the news last week. It just goes to show you, that you really can't win, no matter what you do. I think that we have so much information out there, everyday on a continuous basis, that we simply have to use our basic common sense so that we don't live in a state of confusion. I feel, and no, I'm no "expert" that the weight I was when I reached adulthood was the weight I was meant to be in life. That may sound strange to some people. I don't think so, but I sure feel better about myself now, then when I had those 40 pounds of extra weight on me! Best Wishes!

BTW his name is Ronald not Robert. (Made it a little more difficult to check out) Kahn noted that obesity in the abdominal or visceral area—the classic “beer belly” or “apple” shape—increases the risk of diabetes and mortality, and said it has been thought that obesity in subcutaneous areas—the “pear” shape—might decrease such risks. “We started out to answer the basic question of whether fat inside the belly is bad for you because of where it is located, or is abdominal fat itself different from fat in other places,” said Kahn, an internationally recognized researcher in diabetes and metabolism. To test if the differences were due to anatomic location or intrinsic properties of the fat deposits themselves, transplantations were performed in mice. The researchers found that when subcutaneous fat was transplanted into the abdominal area, there was a decrease in body weight, fat mass, glucose and insulin levels and an improvement in insulin sensitivity. By contrast, transplantation of abdominal fat into either the abdominal or subcutaneous area had no effect. The subcutaneous fat, which is more commonly found on women’s legs and buttocks than men’s, has also been shown to improve the production on the hormone insulin, which regulates blood sugar levels and adipokines which boost the metabolism. Professor Ronald Khan, who led the research, said: “The surprising thing was that it wasn’t where the fat was located, it was the kind of fat that was the most important. “Even more surprising, it wasn’t that abdominal fat was exerting negative effects, but that subcutaneous fat was producing a good effect

Does anyone have an estimate as to when "fisting" will become part of our nation's school's curriculums?

Fistgate III: Obama’s Safe Schools Czar’s ‘Black Book’ For Kids Included Tips on Fisting and Pi$$ing on Your Partnerby Jim Hoft In March 2000 the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) organization of Massachusetts held its 10 Year Anniversary GLSEN/Boston conference at Tufts University. This conference was fully supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Safe Schools Program, the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and some of the presenters even received federal money. During the 2000 conference, workshop leaders led a “youth only, ages 14-21″ session that offered lessons in “fisting” a dangerous sexual practice. During the same workshop an activist asked 14 year-old students, “Spit or swallow?… Is it rude?” The unbelievable audio clip is posted here. Barack Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings is the founder of GLSEN. He was paid $273,573.96 as its executive director in 2007. Jennings was the keynote speaker at the 2000 GLSEN conference. Barack Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” was the keynote speaker at the GLSEN/Boston Conference at Tufts University in 2000. High school students at the conference learned about fisting and watersports from the GLSEN activists. Jennings is seen here holding the conference program. (Via Mass Resistance) Unfortunately for GLSEN, undercover journalists with Mass Resistance recorded these outrageous sessions at Tufts University. The audio was later leaked to a local radio station. This created such an uproar that GLSEN leaders were forced to apologize for their disgusting behavior. Despite the controversy, Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings and his GLSEN organization did nothing to clean up their act. In fact in 2001 activists handed out “fisting kits” to the children and teachers who attended the GLSEN conference. But that’s not all. The children who attended Kevin Jennnings’ 2005 GLSEN Conference also left with their own “Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century”. This book exposes the young teens to– Rimming – Fisting – Water Sports (Pi$$ Play) – Toys It’s what every teen needs to know… And in case any of the teens got bored, GLSEN was also kind enough to include a list of the local gay bars in the booklet distributed to high school students. Because of his excellent work with children Kevin Jennings was promoted by Barack Obama to be his Safe Schools Czar. Today he’s running the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the US Department of Education. Do you feel safe now?

Next she was disgusted by poem readings which contained in her mind sexually explicit sub-messages. Then she was later shocked by skits put on by the students which contained sexual innuendo. During either the poems or the skits somebody interpreted it as fisting apparently and is now shamelessly rewording the truth to terrorize gullible people like yourself

Should I apply to UMass Boston if I already got in at GSU?

I never wanted to live in Georgia...but my family is here, and I couldn't afford a place on my own right now anyway. I got into Georgia State, pending my grades stay the way they are at the end of 12th grade. Should I waste another $60 applying to the University of Massachusetts? Do I have a good chance of getting in there if I was already accepted at GSU? Apparently, GSU is a tier 2 school. Is UMass Boston higher than that? I just want to study Criminal justice and creative writing (maybe).

I want to be a psychiatrist so I do what in college?

so ive been looking at colleges in massachusetts, especially university of massachusetts at amherst, boston college, and boston university. ive been thinking about majoring in psychology or double majoring in psychology and sociology, then going to medical school to pursue my pre med degree. do i have this all planned out right? im only a junior in high school. im just curious as to what else i should be doing if at all. I know im supposed to be like all involved in the community so i volunteer at my church in the 4th and 5th grade department, was a volunteer at this hospital in my city, im in student council, spanish club, the alpha beta society...what else? i know i want to be a psychiatrist. ive just been told i need to major in something then go to medical school afterwards to get my med degree. is there a course i have to take in my first 4 year college in order to go to medical school? im not going to be a psychologist... psychologists cant diagnose and prescribe, psychiatrists do. im going to be a psychiatrist. what courses should i take besides psychology and mcat prep? thanks all you sexy bitches who helped me out!

since psychiatrists have to be MD's, i would think you need to be in a pre-med program in college before you go to medical school. maybe you should find out the requirements for med school &/or a psychiatric specialty. psychologists and psychiatrists are very different in their counseling approaches.
6 :
To be a psychiatrist you first must become an M.D. To be a psychologist, many colleges offer that specialty, at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. level. To practice clinically as a psychologist you had better get a Ph.D. degree which takes about 7 years after high school. For med school take any degree that is high in courses in biochemistry and psychology.

So I've been suspended from school...?

I wrote something on our school page on Wikipedia and I got suspended. I was supposed to get expelled but I got a suspension because I'm one of the "good kids" and I've been working my a** off this year to maintain my grades (As and Bs). Now, when time comes to apply for college, my principal said that she would personally talk to the colleges that I would apply for and explain my suspension. As in, when I get my application form I do not fill out the disciplinary action part but that my principal would call up the school to tell them personally that I'm not a bad kid and that this suspension was the one time I got in any major trouble. So I was wondering, how badly would this affect my future in college? As in, will I still be able to get in to such universities like Boston College or Boston University (I live in Massachusetts)?? I wrote on Wikipedia that a teacher (who I happen to hate very much) raped a student (who's one of my best friends). I was just joking around, when my friend found out that it was me and I got in trouble, he just laughed it off and we're cool. He knew I was just kidding around and he likes stupid sh*t, I mean who doesn't?? haha Oh, and it's a 5-day suspension out of school, if that gives any help for an answer.

If your principal takes the time to call the colleges and explain that you are a good kid it'll most likely show the colleges that you are worth admitting . it shows that the faculty believe it was a one time mistake and that it wont happen again. what did you write?

Its not a deal breaker. It will show a lot if the principal calls. I wouldnt imagine that principals call colleges to explain a students suspension. My guess is that the colleges will assume that you are in fact a good person. Learn from your actions though. What did you write that would get you in so much trouble? *rhetorical question

Should kids who were bullied in school 20 years ago be allowed bring a lawsuit against their attackers?

Should there be NO statute of limitations against bullying? Should those who "were" bullies have to wonder until their dying days whether or not someone was going to show up an hold them accountable? The deaths of Prince, a South Hadley High School student who hanged herself in January amid relentless harassment from other students, and Walker-Hoover, a Springfield 11-year-old who took his own life last year after being bullied, sparked a public outcry over school bullying and galvanized support for the legislation. Lawmakers said the new rules, particularly those mandating that all bullying be reported, will help protect students who now feel they have nowhere to turn. “Bullying is not new. Bullying has been with us from time immemorial. But what has changed is that it appears to be more pervasive, more destructive,’’ Senator Robert O’Leary said as he introduced the bill yesterday. “We’re going to send out a message that this kind of behavior is not acceptable. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/04/30/state_bill_targeting_bullying_approved/ The actions come after complaints of severe bullying at the school, which included a third-grader who has cerebral palsy saying that she suffered repeated verbal and physical abuse. The girl's mother said the 8-year-old wanted to kill herself by trying to jump from a second-story window after students beat her. The city school system says the classroom teacher reported that the child was not at a window but made a comment that she wanted to commit suicide. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2010-04-28/news/bs-ci-bullying-reactions-20100428_1_bullying-gilmor-elementary-school-school-system I'm thinking that a 30 million dollar lawsuit which would put the craven bullies AND their families out on the street and living in a cardboard box would be somehow...poetic... so death...:Why don't we just give the kids a few weapons (say a 9mm) , then they wouldn't be "wimps". Let's do it!! then the "bullies" get to contend with a 9mm hole over the right eye.

If it can be proven, then yes, they should be brought to justice, just like murderers and rapists from years ago,are being caught now. On another note, those like were arrested the other week, should be dealt with,to the full extent of the law.If they go behind bars for a while, that is their problem, not my care. They will certainly meet their match. Now that is poetic justice

Cannot stop thinking about this girl I hardly know?

Right now I am 20 years old and in my 3rd semester of college. During high school I was painfully shy and really didn't talk all that much. I had never been with a girl before either. In my senior year of High School, there was this girl in my marketing class. She was very gorgeous and had beautiful eyes. She was so cheerful and naturally outgoing, not to mention popular. I honestly didn't say more then 2 words to her throughout the entire year. I didn't realize i liked her so much until after I graduated. Over the next 20 months or so while I was in college, I thought about her everyday. She motivates me when I am sad and just thinking about her makes me happier. She goes to school in Boston, Massachusetts while I am in New York. I torture myself just by thinking about her because I know that I could never be with her. I don't think about her sexually, all I think about is holding her or talking with her. My biggest regret is not trying to get to know her in High School. She probably hasn't given a single thought to me at all. I try very hard to convince myself that it could never happen and that there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Yet, it has been almost 2 years and I still can't stop thinking about her. I need help. I'm trying very hard just to forget about her. I can't imagine happiness without her though. I would give anything for her. I just want the pain to stop. Any Ideas?

I'm kind of in your position. Kind of, meaning by me never having a relationship before, but not obsessing over one girl. Talk to other women, you'll realize how insignificant that girl is.

You have two choices here. 1)Move on! The best thing to do is hang out with people and try to get out of your shy zone as much as you can. Opening up and meeting new people can show you that there are other girls like her out in the world that can make you feel that happy and motivated. Try going to a small party or a friends house when they have a few other friends over and start to open up. You'll be glad you did, its college, time to explore. 2) Find her number, talk to her, and see what happens. If nothing, well at least you tried, and if something well then good for you. :) But nothings going to get fixed if you don't do anything to fix it yourself.

I would try to find a girl that goes to your college, so that you can build a relationship with someone that you will see on a regular basis. And you will have a real relationship.

You were attracted to her for a reason, she was the cute popular girl that looked like a lot of fun. Now its your turn! You're in college, go out have fun, find the courage to make yourself the life of the party. Then when you are the life of the party...all the girls will be chasing after you. Go find some guys/girls on your floor an tell them you're looking to have some fun.

I would try and get a hold of her, and get to know her. If you care about her like you say you do, show it to her. Not in a creepy way or anything, but just get to know her casually and then eventually tell her how you feel. You may only be able to contact her by email or facebook or something, but thats how a lot of relationships start. Don't convince yourself that it could never happen, because anything is possible if you put your mind and soul into it. If she doesn't like you, and things don't work out with talking to her, then I would say you should move on.. and yes, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Don't give up hope, though.

Having a imaginary relationship is a lot easier than having a real one.. you control everything...but having real relationships helps you from going crazy. : > You are young, you need to date....have a friend help set you up, or go out on some group dates. If you happen to back in your home town, look the girl up and talk with her. Shy guy and popular girl....they get together in your dreams...and some movies....but find someone now to talk to, laugh, and spend time with....otherwise...you might end up the strange guy people talk about...good luck.

Fantasies are like safe places for the extremely introverted; where we can "talk" to the people we "love" without the risk of being rejected or feeling embarrassement or difficulties expressing our emotions (and finding out what the other person is feeling). You're living with a fantasy that has become somewhat of a crutch. The only way to get rid of the pain is to contact her and try to establish a relationship (you may find that this is extremely difficult if you have no common interests and she is dating someone else). Reallity will replace your fantasy and you'll either find out that she's not that interesting, or you may be able to arrange a meeting. In the meantime, find someone else with common interests and try to get to know them. (Dating websites come to mind.) It takes time, so have patience. If you have an optomistic, caring attitude, you'll find a woman who wants an intellilgent man. Don't be too rigid in your requirements for the "perfect girl" either. Do, however, do something to get yourself out there and dating again. If you don't nip this thing in the bud, it's going to become an obsession and you may end up doing harm to the object of your fantasy or yourself

Yes, it should transfer: "Florida Prepaid College Plan: You may use the plan at any of Florida's 11 public universities or 28 community colleges (including the nine colleges granting baccalaureate degrees.) and select technical schools. You may transfer the value of the plan (the same amount paid to a public college in Florida) to most private and out-of-state colleges. College admission or continued enrollment is not guaranteed." The above is from http://www.floridaprepaidcollege.com/Plans/
