Private Schools in Boston or any Massachusetts city?

I need private schools for a 8th Grader, 4th Grader and an 11th Grader. If you can't find one for 11th, then 8th & 4th is good enough. If you can't find 4th, please try 5th. And if you can't find 8th try 7th. Thank you very much. How much do they charge? I need whatever there is, really. But it's okay if it's boys & girls (which would be better).

http://www.privateschoolreview.com/state_private_schools/stateid/MA Try here- this site has reviews on lots of private schools. I'm not sure what kind of school you're trying to find. There are hundreds of private schools in Massachusetts.

there is a private school in Lowell Mass. its called Immaculate Conception School (ICS) my cousin goes there, but i live in California.. but i heard its a really great school. and i know that there is a private school for 11th grade, just dont know where.. sorry. but goood luck finding one..
3 :
Are you looking for boys or girls? The one school I'm familiar with is Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. My cousin went there and greatly enjoyed it. It's an all boys school.
4 :
theres groton school in groton, mass. starts at the 8th grade though.
5 :
Ste. Jeanne d'Arc School in Lowell, MA is Pre-k to 8 Lowell Catholic is 9 -12 not sure on the prices
6 :
There are lots of private schools around Massachusetts- most with a religious affiliation. For example, Saint Agnes School in Arlington, MA is for K-8, and then near by there is Arlington Catholic High School. There are lots of private high schools, such as Xaverian Brothers High School, which I think is in Westwood, and Pope John High School in Everett. Austin Prep I think is a private school for grades K-8 also. Find an exact city you may be close to, and it would be better to narrow down.
7 :
Marian high school in Framingham is a private school, and also in framingham there st.tarcisius (catholic elementary and middle), my cousin has gone to both and he loved it and so did my aunt, they are very good schools.

Affordable accredited undergraduate college that has a psychotherapy, or counseling, major in Boston Mass?

I am eventually looking to go for a masters in family and marriage counseling. What affordable schools are there in the Boston Massachusetts area that offer a preparatory four year program for what im looking for?

Counselling is usually a graduate degree, not an undergraduate degree. The most common major for counselling grad programs is psychology, whihc U Mass Boston offers.

I'm not sure that there are many affordable schools in Boston since the cost of living (col) is pretty high in that area :) For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ For accredited programs in counselor education: http://www.cacrep.org If interested in social work (may need master's degree, too): http://www.cswe.org Accredited programs in psychology (though, as you may know, one may need a doctorate): http://www.apa.org/education/grad/program-accreditation.aspx General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search. For possible volunteer opportunities (perhaps including volunteering for a crisis helpline): http://www.volunteermatch.org

Is it worth going to a boarding school starting from 10th grade?

Is it worth going to a boarding school starting from 10th grade? It would probably be in Canada or Boston, Massachusetts. I am currently in a public high school in California. I'm in 9th grade. What do universities think of it? Thanks so much. Love Massie!

my friend tell u Hey. I'm 16 at the moment and for years I considered boarding school but I just want to say that there is another option. During my freshman year of high school I was contacted by the PEG program and I made the decision that I would either enter the program or go to boarding school. I chose PEG. PEG's basically an all girls boarding school in the sense that you live in the dorms, have activities with other boarding schools (those are co-ed, so don't worry about the lack of boys...) and are getting an advanced education. What makes it different then? The fact that your "advanced education" is college level. PEG allows people to skip over what ever grades necessary and you just start college and work toward your BA/BS; no high school diploma needed. In order to get into PEG, you need to apply, just like any other college. You need stellar recommendations, curricula rs, grades and most of all SA Ts/ACTs. The program does take into consideration your education level when factoring your scores. For example I scored around a 620 on all the SAT sections. For a junior in high school, it isn't that impressive, but I scored that in the 8th grade. The PEG program does sometimes reach out and recruit students, but you can also take a stand and apply yourself. The college is called Mary Baldwin College (MBC) and is located in Virginia, USA. You will be integrated with "tr ads" or traditional students. Many PEGs go to MBC only as a way to enter college and then transfer to a college of their choice as soon as possible and that is generally fine with PEG. The idea is to allow talented girls the chance to learn unhindered. At MBC you will be exposed to many cultural elements that are unique to the campus. Anything you can do at age 18 at another college, a PEG can do here (ex. study abroad, work study, internships, etc.) PEGs are generally from the ages of 13-16. Think about why you really want to go to boarding school and see if college doesn't suit your needs better. i personally think if u r brave enough u can go so best of luck

Of course it's worth it. If you have the determination and will to go and persevere (boy do I sound corny!) then you'll be FINE. just be sure you can keep up with the workload, since grade 9 is basically the "settle in" year. grade 10 is when the reaaal heavy work starts! you should also consider being a repeat. top schools like exeter, andover, deerfield, etc, have insane academics, so lots of people apply as repeats. & you don't even have to have skipped a year to apply as a repeat (anybody can apply, just tick the box..) universities don't really care. i mean, lots of students change/transfer schools during high school. 4 years is a long time, and obviously for lots of people moving (such as change of work, death in family, etc) is inevitable. it must be common for admissions offices.. be sure you're ready to handle boarding school! despite shows like zoey 101, or books like Private, boarding schools are NOT party schools. they're places to learn, play sports, and (of course) have fun! just .. not too much. it's all about balance, you know? haha. EDIT: BOARDING SCHOOL Attention to students - boarding schools generally have small class sizes that help teachers engage every student in the classroom. Classroom settings are often specifically designed to encourage student participation and eye contact among everyone in class. Quality of faculty - the majority of boarding school faculty have advanced degrees in either education or another specialty. Quality of resources - student resources at boarding schools - such as the library, theater facilities, or athletic complexes - can often be superior relative to local options. Challenging academics - academics at boarding schools operate at high standards. Students are pushed to "ask why," become inquisitive, and tackle challenging problems. Broad and diverse offerings - course selections at boarding schools tend to be quite diverse, have plenty of AP options, and offer a wide range of topics. Athletic and extracurricular options tend to be broad as well, which encourage students to try new things. Many boarding schools also offer opportunities to study in different countries for a term. College counseling - college counseling departments at boarding schools are generally well-staffed and taken quite seriously. Counselors often have plenty of experience in helping applicants identify appropriate schools and advising them on getting-in at competitive institutions. ^ reasons why to pick boarding schools. i'm looking into them too, and i'm applying, for sure, in the 2009 school year. but be aware: it's too late to apply to many schools (jan 15th/feb 1st is the admissions due date, and the SSAT test, which is required, 's registration i s already closed.) so you have to find a school with rolling admissions. don't be discouraged: some great schools have rolling admissions, but if you don't find a suitable one, then wait until next year! (as a repeat 10th, i think). do NOT "settle" for a school unless you're totally, totally fine with it! why would you want to be stuck at a school you hate for the next 3 years of you life? good luck~!

UMass Boston has a striking campus. Have you ever seen it? While I don't like the older buildings - kind of severe looking - the new buildings are quite nice, and the location is *amazing*. It's directly on the water, overlooking Boston Harbor. UMass Boston is mostly a commuter campus. Most students live off-campus. I'm not sure how that impacts the social scene.

Is there such thing as "Traffic School" in Massachusetts or is this just a California thing?

Because if it is, it's unfair that my friend does not have to have a traffic violation if he attends traffic school and I do here in Boston.

Massachusetts Traffic Schools You may be able to complete a traffic school course in order to lower fines, reduce points, and keep your insurance rates from going sky-high. See traffic schools approved by the Registry of Motor Vehicles here. Traffic School can also be taken on line. Although, prior to taking an Online traffic school course, you may need court approval, recommend Driving University as the best driving course to help make you a safer and more confident driver. Whether you decide to take an online course such as Driving University or a normal classroom traffic school, be sure to check with your court to make sure they'll accept it for point reduction or ticket dismissal.

every state is different. they all have seperate governments, so we have different laws from state to state, they dont make laws based on how "fair" it is for people from other states. we do have traffic school here but i'm sure its alot different from california. my friend had 6 tickets and she had to go to traffic school, or else lose her license. if she had got one more ticket within a year she would have lost it. you dont get to go to get out of 1 ticket, its for ppl who have mulitple tickets and fines, so basically its for the ppl who really need some reminding on how to drive lol. massachusetts is pretty strict when it comes to driving and insurance, they dont care if it is unfair. just be careful and follow the rules bc you never know where there is a cop hiding waiting to give you a ticket!

Not by me you won't. If you don't get an Oxbridge education then everything else is pretty well in the same category after that.

Anyone who judges you based on what you can and cannot afford is not worth your time. The UMass school system is wonderful. Don't worry about it.

What is Emerson College (Boston, Massachusetts) known for?

How is the campus? Is it hard to get into? How are the students there? I was just hoping for an idea about this college. I want to be a writer, and am very passionate about it. I'm only a Sophmore, so I don't have SAT scores or anything to share. My grades aren't to good but my school is very hard and competitive. I also have community service hours and plan on writing an amazing essay. Do you think I'll have a chance? Thank you for your time=]

It's known for communications (TV/radio) and the arts (specifically, theater). It offers other degrees, but those are its two "babies." Here's the page... http://www.emerson.edu/academics ...which lists its programs, and writing is among them. It costs around $30,000 per year in tuition and fees to attend. It is fairly selective, having accepted only around 37% of those who applied in 2008 (the last year for which it released such statistics). If your grades up to this point (in your sophomore year) aren't good, then you'll need to get pretty much straight A's (or as close thereto as you can) from here on out if you're going to have a prayer of being accepted... and, statistically, even then, the odds are against you. You'd have to do phenomenally on everthing else... SAT, the essay, references/recommendations, etc. I'm sorry to be negative, but if you don't balance out the first two years of high school with some pretty darned good grades for the rest of your high school experience, then you should probably start thinking in terms of a backup school... and, believe me, there are EXCELLENT writing and/or journalism programs all over the country. You needn't attend Emerson to get good writing training. Another way you could do it, though, would be to finish out your junior and senior year with straight A's (or as near thereto as you can); and then go to a local community college for at least the freshman year of college (maybe both the freshman and sophomore years), and get straight A's in that. A so-so high school GPA can be forgiven if one has a stunning college GPA in the first two years in a little community or junior college. Emerson would weight the high GPA in college much more heavily than a so-so GPA in high school because, after all, college-level coursework is an entirely different animal than high-school coursework. So Emerson would look very favorably, I think, on a stunning college GPA, even atop a so-so high-school one. Or so I would think. Why don't you just contact Emerson and speak with someone in the admissions office? Get some advice/counseling. That's what they're there for. Hope that helps.

Hi, I work at Emerson in the Communications Office. The SAT profile has risen year after year here. The campus is an urban one. No grass except for the Boston Common across the street. The students are friendly, creative, cool. We have wonderful faculty in the writing department. World class!
