How can I get a nursing job in massachusetts if I am a senior in high school soon to be college freshman?


I am looking for a way to get some kind of nursing or hospital experience before my freshman year of college. also looking to gain some knowledge or feel for the hospital type setting while making money even if its a job cleaning stocking or working at a desk because I need money for college and would like to learn at the same time. please help if any nurses or people working in the hospitals out and around boston have any info helpfull advice or opertunities or know of any special programs I could apply for it would be greatly apreciated. i will be a college freshman in the fall and i am 18 so i know there are some jobs i can do age wise

you would have to intern as a candy stripper till you learn the profession.

internships; ask your high school teachers if you can use them as a reference or preferrably have them write a letter on how good of a student you are

Volunteer at a Nursing Home. This would get you 'into' the health care field. Without some kind of 'degree' like LNA it is unlikely that you could get a paying job in the field.

Actually, the best thing would be to become a CNA or certified nursing assistant. Sometimes hospitals will take you and certify you there. You could also try being a PCA or personal care attendant. If you are interesting in going into nursing I would encourage you to get some hands on patient experience since it is usually a lot different than people expect. Stocking shelves is a lot different than draining urine from a catheter bag...you get what I mean? You might be better off getting a job at a Long Term Care facility or nursing home, they usually need more help than the hospitals. Go to your locate hospitals website and contact human resources.
