Should kids who were bullied in school 20 years ago be allowed bring a lawsuit against their attackers?

Should there be NO statute of limitations against bullying? Should those who "were" bullies have to wonder until their dying days whether or not someone was going to show up an hold them accountable? The deaths of Prince, a South Hadley High School student who hanged herself in January amid relentless harassment from other students, and Walker-Hoover, a Springfield 11-year-old who took his own life last year after being bullied, sparked a public outcry over school bullying and galvanized support for the legislation. Lawmakers said the new rules, particularly those mandating that all bullying be reported, will help protect students who now feel they have nowhere to turn. “Bullying is not new. Bullying has been with us from time immemorial. But what has changed is that it appears to be more pervasive, more destructive,’’ Senator Robert O’Leary said as he introduced the bill yesterday. “We’re going to send out a message that this kind of behavior is not acceptable. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/04/30/state_bill_targeting_bullying_approved/ The actions come after complaints of severe bullying at the school, which included a third-grader who has cerebral palsy saying that she suffered repeated verbal and physical abuse. The girl's mother said the 8-year-old wanted to kill herself by trying to jump from a second-story window after students beat her. The city school system says the classroom teacher reported that the child was not at a window but made a comment that she wanted to commit suicide. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2010-04-28/news/bs-ci-bullying-reactions-20100428_1_bullying-gilmor-elementary-school-school-system I'm thinking that a 30 million dollar lawsuit which would put the craven bullies AND their families out on the street and living in a cardboard box would be somehow...poetic... so death...:Why don't we just give the kids a few weapons (say a 9mm) , then they wouldn't be "wimps". Let's do it!! then the "bullies" get to contend with a 9mm hole over the right eye.

Statutue of limitations is 3 years in most civil actions.
2 :
teach the kids how to fight back ! we already have a kiddie population of politically correct diversity brain washed pansies.....
3 :
If it can be proven, then yes, they should be brought to justice, just like murderers and rapists from years ago,are being caught now. On another note, those like were arrested the other week, should be dealt with,to the full extent of the law.If they go behind bars for a while, that is their problem, not my care. They will certainly meet their match. Now that is poetic justice

Cannot stop thinking about this girl I hardly know?

Right now I am 20 years old and in my 3rd semester of college. During high school I was painfully shy and really didn't talk all that much. I had never been with a girl before either. In my senior year of High School, there was this girl in my marketing class. She was very gorgeous and had beautiful eyes. She was so cheerful and naturally outgoing, not to mention popular. I honestly didn't say more then 2 words to her throughout the entire year. I didn't realize i liked her so much until after I graduated. Over the next 20 months or so while I was in college, I thought about her everyday. She motivates me when I am sad and just thinking about her makes me happier. She goes to school in Boston, Massachusetts while I am in New York. I torture myself just by thinking about her because I know that I could never be with her. I don't think about her sexually, all I think about is holding her or talking with her. My biggest regret is not trying to get to know her in High School. She probably hasn't given a single thought to me at all. I try very hard to convince myself that it could never happen and that there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Yet, it has been almost 2 years and I still can't stop thinking about her. I need help. I'm trying very hard just to forget about her. I can't imagine happiness without her though. I would give anything for her. I just want the pain to stop. Any Ideas?

I'm kind of in your position. Kind of, meaning by me never having a relationship before, but not obsessing over one girl. Talk to other women, you'll realize how insignificant that girl is.
5 :
You have two choices here. 1)Move on! The best thing to do is hang out with people and try to get out of your shy zone as much as you can. Opening up and meeting new people can show you that there are other girls like her out in the world that can make you feel that happy and motivated. Try going to a small party or a friends house when they have a few other friends over and start to open up. You'll be glad you did, its college, time to explore. 2) Find her number, talk to her, and see what happens. If nothing, well at least you tried, and if something well then good for you. :) But nothings going to get fixed if you don't do anything to fix it yourself.
6 :
I would try to find a girl that goes to your college, so that you can build a relationship with someone that you will see on a regular basis. And you will have a real relationship.
7 :
You were attracted to her for a reason, she was the cute popular girl that looked like a lot of fun. Now its your turn! You're in college, go out have fun, find the courage to make yourself the life of the party. Then when you are the life of the party...all the girls will be chasing after you. Go find some guys/girls on your floor an tell them you're looking to have some fun.
8 :
I would try and get a hold of her, and get to know her. If you care about her like you say you do, show it to her. Not in a creepy way or anything, but just get to know her casually and then eventually tell her how you feel. You may only be able to contact her by email or facebook or something, but thats how a lot of relationships start. Don't convince yourself that it could never happen, because anything is possible if you put your mind and soul into it. If she doesn't like you, and things don't work out with talking to her, then I would say you should move on.. and yes, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Don't give up hope, though.
9 :
Having a imaginary relationship is a lot easier than having a real one.. you control everything...but having real relationships helps you from going crazy. : > You are young, you need to date....have a friend help set you up, or go out on some group dates. If you happen to back in your home town, look the girl up and talk with her. Shy guy and popular girl....they get together in your dreams...and some movies....but find someone now to talk to, laugh, and spend time with....otherwise...you might end up the strange guy people talk about...good luck.
10 :
Fantasies are like safe places for the extremely introverted; where we can "talk" to the people we "love" without the risk of being rejected or feeling embarrassement or difficulties expressing our emotions (and finding out what the other person is feeling). You're living with a fantasy that has become somewhat of a crutch. The only way to get rid of the pain is to contact her and try to establish a relationship (you may find that this is extremely difficult if you have no common interests and she is dating someone else). Reallity will replace your fantasy and you'll either find out that she's not that interesting, or you may be able to arrange a meeting. In the meantime, find someone else with common interests and try to get to know them. (Dating websites come to mind.) It takes time, so have patience. If you have an optomistic, caring attitude, you'll find a woman who wants an intellilgent man. Don't be too rigid in your requirements for the "perfect girl" either. Do, however, do something to get yourself out there and dating again. If you don't nip this thing in the bud, it's going to become an obsession and you may end up doing harm to the object of your fantasy or yourself

Yes, it should transfer: "Florida Prepaid College Plan: You may use the plan at any of Florida's 11 public universities or 28 community colleges (including the nine colleges granting baccalaureate degrees.) and select technical schools. You may transfer the value of the plan (the same amount paid to a public college in Florida) to most private and out-of-state colleges. College admission or continued enrollment is not guaranteed." what kind of work can I get with a Masters degree in Art?

I am a very talented 47 year old Artist with a bachelors degree from Massachusetts college of art in Boston. I am ready to go back to school to further my education. What can I expect from this as far as work when I achieve my goal?

any damn thing u want lol
2 :
Teaching. Or some kind of work in an art museum. Or maybe with marketing
3 :
either start your own art camp or after school art camp. Or become an art teacher and teach in the school system
4 :
I am not an artist so this is only a guess. I do admire art work however. Commercials, get a job making up brochures for companies, or a job illustrating childrens books, you can teach art, maybe doing painting or whatever type of media you use for art as a sideline. They have people who make art work for their city. Submit a design and explain how your design would enhance thier city. Good Luck to you.
5 :
Teach for a while. Try out being a critic. Put on shows for your students. Follow your heart. Write about your passions in a ledger , then go back and discover your wonderful self in your ledger. There's so much in art about real life, love and strife. Your heart will take you where you need to go. God bless you.
6 :
As far as your degree alone -Almost nothing. There are many thousands of people with graduate degrees in Art from very prestigious universities. They mainly work for free in Museums and Art Galleries. Almost none get paid. For everyone that works there are 20 more waiting tables at Starbucks. It is as bad as being an actor. Now, if you get a doctorate and are a very good scholar/researcher and make yourself a specialist in a useful/interesting area of art, or write a popular book, you will have something going. Now you say you are a very talented artist. So why are you going back to school? Why can’t you be an artist right now? If you need to improve your technique you could do that better by practicing, not going to school. If you have a BS – you have the basics. Now, if you are going to school to learn a technique that you can’t learn on your own – say, advanced computer graphics? – that makes sense, and you have a good potential future. What studios & film companies say over and over again is that they want artists who can learn to use computers. They do not want technicians who don’t know how to draw. If you can draw and paint the human form, animals landscapes – really well – then when you learn to use computer graphics your work will shine and you will be recognized for it. If you hone your techniques to a high order and choose a subject that interests / enlightens people – you will succeed. Most artists who fail (about 99%!) have very poor technical skills and choose to work on something entirely narcissistic – uninteresting to anyone but them. They don’t enlighten anyone about anything – so no one wants to see it or own it. One of my degrees was in engineering yet I can draw and paint better than any artist I’ve ever met. People enjoy my work, and I could sell it – I probably will do that when I retire from the career(s) I’m doing now

M.S in Information Systems v/s MBA which is better?

I am a Software developer with 8 + years of industry experience. I wish to make a choice between the two. 1> An M.S in Information Systems / Information Technology from a tier 1 or a top 100 rated University or school 2> An MBA from a tier 3 or tier 4 Business School. My objective is to advance my career prospects but I cannot afford the high tution fees for a top 50 ranking or a tier 1 Business School. Hence My open question, what is better ? Doing a M.S in Management / Information Systems from a great and reputed School?? Or doing MBA from a not so great and locally reputed but yet affordable Business School. I am in the Boston-Massachusetts metropolitan area.

This is a tough question. The answer depends a great deal on what you want to do when you graduate. My basic opinion: 1. If you want to go MIS/IT, then the MS might do you well. 2. If you think a career change might be in your future, or that an MBA might actually be able to help you into a position in your current field that the MS might not; then an MBA might be the best route. The MBA is a great general degree; but then again, an MS might give you an expertise in a certain field, which in the end, may be more valuable to you. Things to think about: 1. Why are you considering degree? Is it for: advancement, building knowledge, personal reasons? Your answer to this question may help you decide which program will better help you meet your goals. Some steps you might take: 1. Look at job postings within your company and with other companies you are interested in. See what degree is required. 2. Look at people who have the job you're interested in having in the future. What kind of education do these people have? Have certain areas of study (organizational leadership or finance, or technical classes, for example) helped them reach their goal and be an effective manager? Which school(s) offer these courses? 3. Get the course catalogs for the programs you're interested in. Which ones seem interesting? Which ones have courses in areas you need or want to study? 4. Talk to people who know you and where you want to go. If possible (and appropriate), get their advice. The reputation question is probably secondary to which degree is actually more useful to you. From there, definitely consider cost implications and the value of your intended school's network in the area. Tough decision--good luck

My mom was diagnosed with cancer during High School, will college consider how this affected my grades?

Hello all, my mom recently finished her chemo therapy and had a tumor removed from her colon after being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer about 4 months ago. The ordeal is slowly going to get better and will stop affecting everyday life soon but my grades from sub-par to awful FAST. I had a 3.2 weighted GPA going into Junior year, which isn't ever that great to begin with. But the thing is I'm really intelligent! I take pretty high level classes, Honors, one AP last year. Granted I used to super lazy, but I'm willing to step now and work, but I feel it's to late. :( So, if anyone knows how colleges consider events like these in an applicants life, please give me some advice! As far as my other criteria, I've been in 3 plays. Student of the term. I'm rigorously involved in my school television program, where I received student of the term. I will get plenty of good recommendations from several teachers, including my mentor. Not to bashful, but I do have a good personality and social skills. I will be getting a job this summer, unclear as to where. I received "Advanced" on my MCAS which is Massachusetts equivalent to a required assessment test, on every single one. I plan on taking the SAT's twice, and will most likely receive in at least the top 60 percentile for each part, top 85 and above on math. Now, those are my strong points, but that's just to give you all an of what I'm dealing with. I believe State school will be very possible for me, but my dream school is Emerson in Boston. Please somebody give me some optimism. Thanks in advance.

Do I need the "required courses" if I'm going to an architecture school?

I'm a 17 year old senior in a small town in Massachusetts. I was thinking about going to community college for the first two years of college, and then transferring over to an architectural school, preferably the Boston Architectural College. I've heard from my parents about how the first two years of college are just the basic required courses, and THEN you take the courses you want to take for your chosen career... But I went to the BAC website, and it doesn't say anything about those courses. So I was wondering, if you go to a school that's based on that career of your choice, do you still need to take those "required" Math and English and History courses? In other words, would you still be able to get your degree? College is so confusing and nobody wants to help..

I'm from Canada, and I attend the University of Waterloo's School of Architecture. Most likely it's different from the US, but here, in order to apply to the Architecture program we need to take Calculus, Advanced functions, Physics and English as prerequisites. However, the prerequisites differ from school to school. For instance, in order to apply to McGill University, you'd add Chemistry to that list as well. On top of the courses, there was also an admissions portfolio review interview and a English precis test. The admissions process to any architecture school, no matter where it is, is very competitive, so you have to be on top of your game! Sorry if this didn't help, I don't really know much about US programs

honey its hard to get a job anywhere. Especially up north. and its sad to say but a school psychologist is often one of the cut jobs due to the economy. but god bless you and best wishes! and answer below me. there would be special education because EC teachers. Special education deals often with mental disorders and thats what EC is trained to do. However they may be accompanied by psychologist but that is not their main duty. now maybe for middle school I think you'd have more luck.
2 :
School Psychologists are actually not one of the positions always cut from money issues because unlike teachers, paras, every district must have a school psychologist for a certain number of children. Without them, there would be no special education!

Essay Contest and i need to know if this is considered plagiarism !?

our paper is about Paul Revere and i don't know if this is plagiarism ( you have to act like your paul revere and share his/your memories) Example.(actual text) Paul Revere was born on January 1, 1735, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of Apollos De Revoire, a French Huguenot (member of the Protestant faith) who had come to Boston at the age of thirteen to apprentice (a person who works for another to learn a trade) in the shop of a silversmith. Once Revoire had established his own business, he changed his name to the English spelling Revere. Paul Revere was the third of twelve children and the oldest of his father's sons to survive into adulthood. As a young man, he studied at the North Writing School in Boston. As a teenager, he learned the art of gold and silversmithing from his father. With help from his mother, he began running the Revere family silver shop at age nineteen, after his father died. On August 17, 1757, he married Sarah Orne and eventually fathered eight children. example. (what i wrote) Hello this is Paul Revere. I was born on January , 1 , 1735 in Boston , Massachusetts. And here is my story. I am the son of Apollos De Revoire my father is a French Huguenot . And my mother is Deborah Hitchbourn Revere . I am the third child out of twelve. It was hard. As I got older and became a young man I studied at the North Writing School. But while I aged into a teenager I learned the art of gold and silversmithing from my father. 2 :
Most commonly, plagiarism means lifting actual text from another source and not giving proper credit. You have not done that here. However, plagiarism also includes use of others' IDEAS and BELIEFS which are not commonly known and widely shared, and that is so even if actual text is not lifted. Use of commonly-known facts such as you have included is not plagiarism. I think you can relax about the issue of plagiarism!

Performing arts colleges in Boston?

Next year I may start looking at colleges and universities to get an idea of what I want. I know that I'd like to go to a performing arts school that has a good dance program. Also a school with financial aid and has a scholarship program that isn't too difficult. I've been told it's much cheaper to go to college in state, so I'm going to stay within the realms of Massachusetts. I know Boston has some nice universities. What are some good performing arts schools? I also have thought about Dean College which gives BA's in dance.

If I wore this to school what would people think?

I am looking for a little bit of insight on an idea that I've been thinking about. I am going to one of the most liberal high schools in one of the most liberal towns near "The most of liberal" boston massachusetts. I am the one in five hundred out here who feels as if this country is heading in the wrong direction socially, economically, and in almost every other way under B. Hussein Obama. I bought a number of political buttons a while back online: examples of what they say are "Pray for America while it is still legal", "My savior is a carpenter, not a president", "GILF For PILF 2012" and so on. I was wondering how much that sort of thing would touch you. I want to wear them to piss people off, but at the same time, I don't really want to rub someone the wrong way and get punched in the mouth.

I would just roll my eyes and dismiss you as an idiot if I saw you wearing one of those shirts. You might get asked by a teacher to change, though, depending on your school. Shirts with controversial/offensive slogans weren't allowed at my high school. The GILF one definitely wouldn't have been allowed where I went to school.
2 :
While I agree with you somewhat politically, you are making me feel old. I have argued against school uniforms for several years with my friends who are teachers. Their reasoning is that it would prevent poor kids from being made fun of for their clothes. I countered the kids know who is poor and who isn't, and they won't be able to control other indicators of wealth. You make me realize that we don't need more distractions in schools. We are lagging behind the rest of the developed world because we have entitled kids wanting to show off their right to speech, no matter how unenlightened. Let's get politics out of schools altogether. I don't want teachers indoctrinating students into liberal thinking, nor do I want "GILF for PILF" on teenagers' bodies. I especially want the youth of America to pull up its pants. I DO NOT want to see any more 13 year old boys' underwear. For the love of all that's holy, buy pants that fit!!!!!!
